The seeds of GLP Social
Circle were sown as far back as July, 1988, when the foundation stone of
the G.L. Publications Ltd., for publishing Newspapers and periodicals
was laid with a view to build bridges of understanding, unity and
national integration amongst the diverse ethnic groups of the
North-Eastern region.
Being
a newspaper house with a social mission, the next logical step was the
establishing of a social service organisation called GLP Social Circle.
When
trouble befalls the community, GLP Social Circle with the help of its numerous
friends and well wishers as well as through its media group always tries to
help the victims.
GLP Social Circle is a socio-cultural
organization dedicated to the well being of the society. The motto of GLP
Social Circle is not to endorse any particular region or community, but to work
for the welfare of all sections of people living in the North-Eastern region.
It was also designed to be a catalyst for strengthening the unity in diversity
the region had been known for since ages.
As a socially committed organization,
when GLP Social Circle started the Hearse and Ambulance services, those
fulfilled a long felt need of the region and people appreciated our pioneering
efforts. Under the able leadership of Chairman, G.L. Agarwalla and with active
help from my key associates Jayprakash Goenka, Babulal Agarwal and Jaychand
Agrawal ‘Dhuburi’ the Social Circle provided various services to the needy and
the disadvantaged. The encouragement we received inspired us to take up the
project Bhootnath in 2000 with a view to giving an image makeover to the
crematorium. As a result of our meticulous efforts, the look that the
crematorium wears today is a far cry from what it was a decade and half ago.
The free firewood, Ambulance and other medical facilities that we have
introduced at the crematorium site have immensely benefited the weaker sections
of the society.
